Not sure which level to choose?
We’ll explain the available cover and excesses before you decide.
02 / YOUR POLICY DETAILS
The details.
The difference.
Explore the points to discuss when arranging motor trade road risk insurance.
EXPLORE YOUR POLICY DETAILS
01
DETAIL
Your business activities
Explain buying, selling, repairs and any other work. Insurers may ask for evidence of trading and relevant experience.
02
DETAIL
Vehicles and indemnity limits
Discuss the highest value you may drive, including customer vehicles. Check restrictions by vehicle type, performance, weight or seating.
03
DETAIL
Who is permitted to drive
Provide driver details and the use each person needs. Employee, spouse and proprietor arrangements can differ.
04
DETAIL
Keeping vehicle records current
Follow the insurer’s instructions for recording vehicles and reporting changes. A database entry does not override the policy’s acceptance rules.
These examples help us understand your needs. Available cover, terms and acceptance depend on the insurer.
03 / OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Extra protection.
A clearer picture.
Explore optional benefits and related policies. Some may already be included; others need separate cover. We’ll explain what is available for your circumstances.
01 / 06
Customers’ Vehicles
Check how vehicles belonging to customers are protected while in your care, on the premises and during agreed movements.
What we’ll help you check
- What is the maximum value of one vehicle?
- What is the total value at one location?
- Are collection and delivery movements included?
02 / 06
Demonstration & Road Testing
Explain who drives stock or customers’ vehicles and why. Demonstration drives and testing must fit the agreed drivers and permitted use.
What we’ll help you check
- Who may drive?
- Are accompanied demonstrations required?
- What limits apply to vehicles and journeys?
03 / 06
Public Liability
Discuss separate cover for liability arising from your business activities. It does not replace the motor insurance needed for use of the vehicle.
What we’ll help you check
- Which business activities are insured?
- How does it fit with the motor policy?
- What limits does my contract require?
04 / 06
Employers’ Liability
Discuss the people working for the business, their roles and employment arrangements so the applicable liability requirements can be checked.
What we’ll help you check
- Who works for the business?
- Are temporary staff or subcontractors involved?
- Which activities must be declared?
05 / 06
Tools & Equipment
Discuss tools and equipment kept at the workshop or taken to jobs. Check the values, locations and security conditions rather than assume road risk cover protects them.
What we’ll help you check
- What is the limit per item and per vehicle?
- Is overnight storage permitted?
- What security and evidence of ownership are required?
06 / 06
Premises & Contents
Discuss the buildings, stock, plant and equipment at the locations you occupy. Property sums insured and security conditions need to reflect the business.
What we’ll help you check
- Which locations and property are included?
- What values and limits are needed?
- Which security conditions apply?
Choose an option to explore. Availability, limits and exclusions vary. Related policies may be arranged separately; we’ll provide the relevant terms before you decide.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Your questions
answered.
Answers to common questions about motor trade road risk insurance, drivers and arranging cover.
Understanding the cover
What does road risk insurance cover?
It covers agreed motor risks for vehicles and drivers within the policy terms and permitted motor trade use. The chosen cover level and indemnity limits determine the protection.
Can I use it for my own car?
Only if that vehicle and use are accepted. Declare personally owned vehicles and any private or commuting use before relying on the policy.
Are demonstration drives included?
Check who may drive, whether they must be accompanied and the vehicle limits. A prospective buyer is not automatically covered.
Does a trade plate provide insurance?
No. Trade plates and insurance serve different purposes. You still need appropriate insurance and must comply with the applicable trade-plate rules.
Vehicles, drivers and use
Can I carry out unrelated business work?
Do not assume so. Using a vehicle for another occupation, delivery or other work must be declared and expressly accepted.
Are vehicles automatically covered once added to the database?
No. They must meet the policy terms and acceptance rules. Follow the insurer’s recording instructions and ask about anything outside the agreed scope.
Getting a quote
How do I request a quote?
Choose a quick callback or share your quote details using the enquiry form. You can also call 020 8374 9331. We’ll review your information and discuss the available options.
Does the enquiry form put cover in place?
No. It asks our team to contact you. Cover must be arranged and confirmed, with the required details and payment arrangements completed, before you rely on it.
Can I ask about monthly payments?
Yes. Ask us about available payment arrangements and the total cost. Instalments on an annual policy are not the same as a monthly insurance policy. Finance is subject to eligibility and terms.
Managing your policy
Can I change the policy later?
Contact us before changing vehicles, drivers or vehicle use. Insurer acceptance, additional premiums and fees may apply. Check the change is confirmed before relying on cover.
What happens if I want to cancel?
Please contact us and confirm your request in writing. Any refund, fees and outstanding finance depend on the policy terms, time on cover and claims position.
When can I speak to the team?
Call 020 8374 9331, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are based at 133 Tottenham Lane, Crouch End, London, N8 9BJ.
