INSURANCE AROUND YOUR BUSINESS
At the roadside.
On the transporter.
At the storage yard.
Recovery work can include several stages of responsibility. The cover should be checked against what happens at each stage.
Recovery trucks
Vehicle transport
Loading & winching
Storage yards
This is insurance for recovery businesses. It is not a roadside breakdown assistance service for motorists.
Tell us about your requirements. Available cover depends on the insurer and your circumstances.

Know where you stand.
We explain the cover, excesses and relevant terms before you decide. You can ask us about the details at every stage.
01 / YOUR COVER CONSIDERATIONS
Different risks.
Considered together.
These are areas to discuss, not a promise of included cover. We’ll confirm the sections, limits and conditions available for your business.

Start with a conversation.
We’ll explain the available cover and excesses before you decide.
02 / YOUR POLICY DETAILS
The details.
The difference.
Explore the points to discuss when arranging vehicle recovery insurance.
EXPLORE YOUR POLICY DETAILS
01
DETAIL
The recovery fleet
Provide registrations, weights, bodies, lifting equipment and operating areas. Tell us about trailers and any specialist vehicles.
02
DETAIL
What you recover or transport
Describe customer vehicle types and maximum values, including damaged, modified or specialist vehicles.
03
DETAIL
Loading, unloading and winching
Explain the equipment and recovery methods used. A motor policy should not be assumed to cover every handling operation.
04
DETAIL
Vehicles left in your care
Tell us about yards, storage periods, security and vehicle accumulation. Check responsibility before and after transport.
These examples help us understand your needs. Available cover, terms and acceptance depend on the insurer.
03 / OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Extra protection.
A clearer picture.
Explore optional benefits and related policies. Some may already be included; others need separate cover. We’ll explain what is available for your circumstances.
01 / 06
Customers’ Vehicles
Check how vehicles belonging to customers are protected while in your care, on the premises and during agreed movements.
What we’ll help you check
- What is the maximum value of one vehicle?
- What is the total value at one location?
- Are collection and delivery movements included?
02 / 06
Loading & Unloading
Explain how vehicles or goods are loaded, secured and unloaded. Handling risks may need specific cover beyond driving on the road.
What we’ll help you check
- Which handling operations are accepted?
- Are lifting and winching included?
- When does responsibility begin and end?
03 / 06
Public Liability
Discuss separate cover for liability arising from your business activities. It does not replace the motor insurance needed for use of the vehicle.
What we’ll help you check
- Which business activities are insured?
- How does it fit with the motor policy?
- What limits does my contract require?
04 / 06
Employers’ Liability
Discuss the people working for the business, their roles and employment arrangements so the applicable liability requirements can be checked.
What we’ll help you check
- Who works for the business?
- Are temporary staff or subcontractors involved?
- Which activities must be declared?
05 / 06
Premises & Contents
Discuss the buildings, stock, plant and equipment at the locations you occupy. Property sums insured and security conditions need to reflect the business.
What we’ll help you check
- Which locations and property are included?
- What values and limits are needed?
- Which security conditions apply?
06 / 06
Motor Legal Cover
Help with eligible legal costs when pursuing uninsured losses following a non-fault accident. Conditions apply to the prospects of success and authorisation of costs.
What we’ll help you check
- Which losses can be pursued?
- What must happen before costs are authorised?
- How is a claim reported?
Choose an option to explore. Availability, limits and exclusions vary. Related policies may be arranged separately; we’ll provide the relevant terms before you decide.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Your questions
answered.
Answers to common questions about vehicle recovery insurance, drivers and arranging cover.
Understanding the cover
Is this the same as breakdown cover?
No. This page concerns insurance for businesses carrying out recovery or vehicle transport, rather than assistance for a motorist whose car breaks down.
Does truck insurance cover the vehicle being carried?
Do not assume so. Cover for the recovery vehicle and the customer vehicle in your care needs to be checked separately.
Are loading and winching included?
Only where accepted within the relevant cover. Describe the equipment and methods so the wording can be checked.
Can I recover high-value or specialist vehicles?
Tell us the types and maximum values. Vehicle restrictions and custody limits must be adequate for the work.
Vehicles, drivers and use
Is storage at my yard included?
Declare the site, security, storage periods and maximum accumulation. Transport cover does not automatically extend to all storage risks.
Can you look at several recovery trucks?
Send the vehicle schedule and driver arrangements. We can discuss fleet or other available options for the operation.
Getting a quote
How do I request a quote?
Choose a quick callback or share your quote details using the enquiry form. You can also call 020 8374 9331. We’ll review your information and discuss the available options.
Does the enquiry form put cover in place?
No. It asks our team to contact you. Cover must be arranged and confirmed, with the required details and payment arrangements completed, before you rely on it.
Can I ask about monthly payments?
Yes. Ask us about available payment arrangements and the total cost. Instalments on an annual policy are not the same as a monthly insurance policy. Finance is subject to eligibility and terms.
Managing your policy
Can I change the policy later?
Contact us before changing vehicles, drivers, activities, locations or other insured details. Insurer acceptance, additional premiums and fees may apply. Check the change is confirmed before relying on cover.
What happens if I want to cancel?
Please contact us and confirm your request in writing. Any refund, fees and outstanding finance depend on the policy terms, time on cover and claims position.
When can I speak to the team?
Call 020 8374 9331, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are based at 133 Tottenham Lane, Crouch End, London, N8 9BJ.
