INSURANCE AROUND YOUR BUSINESS
In the workshop.
On the test drive.
After the repair.
A repair business has several exposures at once. We’ll consider the activities and vehicle values rather than assume a standard description covers everything.
Servicing & repairs
Diagnostics
MOT activities
Mobile work
Specialist work such as performance modifications, welding or electric-vehicle repairs should be declared.
Tell us about your requirements. Available cover depends on the insurer and your circumstances.

03 / THE CROSSROADS APPROACH
Know where you stand.
We explain the cover, excesses and relevant terms before you decide. You can ask us about the details at every stage.
01 / YOUR COVER CONSIDERATIONS
Different risks.
Considered together.
These are areas to discuss, not a promise of included cover. We’ll confirm the sections, limits and conditions available for your business.
01 / COVER CONSIDERATIONS

How stock and customers’ vehicles are handled.
Maximum value of a single vehicle

Subcontractors and specialist work
Limits, conditions and exclusions
Availability, limits and terms must be confirmed in your quotation.

Start with a conversation.
We’ll explain the available cover and excesses before you decide.
02 / YOUR POLICY DETAILS
The details.
The difference.
Explore the points to discuss when arranging garage & mechanic insurance.
EXPLORE YOUR POLICY DETAILS
01
DETAIL
Your services and specialist activities
List the work performed, including subcontracted and occasional services. Tell us about welding, bodywork or performance changes.
02
DETAIL
Customers’ vehicles in your care
Discuss the highest-value vehicle and total values held overnight. Explain key storage, parking and premises security.
03
DETAIL
Collection and road testing
Tell us who drives and why. Cover for test drives, collection and delivery must fit the agreed vehicle and driver terms.
04
DETAIL
Tools, lifts and diagnostics
Identify equipment values, ownership and any hired items. Machinery breakdown and inspection arrangements are separate points to discuss.
These examples help us understand your needs. Available cover, terms and acceptance depend on the insurer.
03 / OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Extra protection.
A clearer picture.
Explore optional benefits and related policies. Some may already be included; others need separate cover. We’ll explain what is available for your circumstances.
01 / 06
Customers’ Vehicles
Check how vehicles belonging to customers are protected while in your care, on the premises and during agreed movements.
What we’ll help you check
- What is the maximum value of one vehicle?
- What is the total value at one location?
- Are collection and delivery movements included?
02 / 06
Tools & Equipment
Discuss tools and equipment kept at the workshop or taken to jobs. Check the values, locations and security conditions rather than assume road risk cover protects them.
What we’ll help you check
- What is the limit per item and per vehicle?
- Is overnight storage permitted?
- What security and evidence of ownership are required?
03 / 06
Premises & Contents
Discuss the buildings, stock, plant and equipment at the locations you occupy. Property sums insured and security conditions need to reflect the business.
What we’ll help you check
- Which locations and property are included?
- What values and limits are needed?
- Which security conditions apply?
04 / 06
Workmanship & Products
Tell us the repairs, products and services you provide. Liability arising from work and the cost of correcting the work itself can be treated differently.
What we’ll help you check
- Which activities are accepted?
- What liability follows completed work?
- Is the defective work itself excluded?
05 / 06
Employers’ Liability
Discuss the people working for the business, their roles and employment arrangements so the applicable liability requirements can be checked.
What we’ll help you check
- Who works for the business?
- Are temporary staff or subcontractors involved?
- Which activities must be declared?
06 / 06
Business Interruption
Ask about help with insured financial loss following a covered interruption. Triggers, the indemnity period and the basis of cover matter.
What we’ll help you check
- Which events trigger cover?
- How long could recovery take?
- What financial information is needed?
Choose an option to explore. Availability, limits and exclusions vary. Related policies may be arranged separately; we’ll provide the relevant terms before you decide.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Your questions
answered.
Answers to common questions about garage & mechanic insurance, drivers and arranging cover.
Understanding the cover
Can you look at a small independent garage?
Yes. Tell us the services, premises, staff and vehicles handled. We’ll check the available options for your operation.
Does this include mobile mechanic work?
Tell us about work at customers’ premises or roadside locations. Cover for one workshop does not automatically extend to every mobile activity.
Is damage caused by faulty work covered?
The cost of correcting defective work and liability for resulting injury or damage can be treated differently. The wording needs careful checking.
Are customer vehicles covered overnight?
Check the custody cover, locations, limits and security conditions. Provide the total and individual values you may hold.
Vehicles, drivers and use
Can employees road-test cars?
Only if they meet the agreed driver terms and the journey is permitted. Tell us which employees require that use.
Does machinery insurance replace inspection requirements?
No. Insurance cover and any applicable examination or maintenance duties are separate. Ask about both for your equipment.
Getting a quote
How do I request a quote?
Choose a quick callback or share your quote details using the enquiry form. You can also call 020 8374 9331. We’ll review your information and discuss the available options.
Does the enquiry form put cover in place?
No. It asks our team to contact you. Cover must be arranged and confirmed, with the required details and payment arrangements completed, before you rely on it.
Can I ask about monthly payments?
Yes. Ask us about available payment arrangements and the total cost. Instalments on an annual policy are not the same as a monthly insurance policy. Finance is subject to eligibility and terms.
Managing your policy
Can I change the policy later?
Contact us before changing vehicles, drivers, activities, locations or other insured details. Insurer acceptance, additional premiums and fees may apply. Check the change is confirmed before relying on cover.
What happens if I want to cancel?
Please contact us and confirm your request in writing. Any refund, fees and outstanding finance depend on the policy terms, time on cover and claims position.
When can I speak to the team?
Call 020 8374 9331, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are based at 133 Tottenham Lane, Crouch End, London, N8 9BJ.
