Uber Driver Insurance

Private hire insurance for the way you work.

Discuss Uber driver insurance with Crossroads. We start with your vehicle, licence, working arrangements and preferred cover, then explain the options available through our insurance markets.

Start with the passenger work you do.

01

Uber and other work

Tell us that you drive for Uber and whether you also accept other private hire bookings. Passenger work and deliveries should not be treated as interchangeable uses.

02

Vehicle and licence

Have your registration, vehicle value, licensing authority and ownership details ready. Tell us about a rented vehicle or an electric or hybrid model.

03

Experience and bonus

Explain your licence history, private hire experience and whether your no claims bonus came from a dedicated taxi policy or private car insurance.

Insurance and platform acceptance

The insurance needs to fit the work. The documents also need to meet the platform’s requirements.

Uber’s current London requirements include an accepted insurer with the required document integration. We will need to check the proposed insurer and arrangement for your enquiry.

A quotation is not a guarantee that a vehicle, driver or document will be approved by Uber.

Before you start or renew

  • Check the vehicle and driver details on the documents.
  • Confirm the permitted private hire use and start date.
  • Check the current document upload and acceptance requirements.
  • Allow time to resolve discrepancies before your existing cover ends.

Cover you can discuss

Your main motor policy

Ask about available cover levels, excesses, policy periods and the treatment of fire, theft and accidental damage.

Keeping your work moving

If you need breakdown assistance or a replacement licensed vehicle following an insured event, ask what is available and what conditions apply.

Your renewal

You can give us your current insurer, renewal date and target premium. We will explain the quotation offered rather than promise to match another price.

Uber driver insurance questions

No. Crossroads is an independent insurance broker. References to Uber describe the work you want insured and do not imply a partnership or endorsement.

No. Do not treat platform benefits as a replacement for the motor insurance required for your vehicle and work. Check each arrangement separately.

Yes. Explain your vehicle and executive or chauffeur bookings. Our Chauffeur & Executive Hire page covers the additional matters worth discussing.

Tell us before undertaking that work. Passenger and delivery use have different insurance requirements, and combined use must not be assumed covered.

Ask whether Protect NCB is available for your quotation and what conditions apply. Protecting a bonus does not guarantee that the premium will remain unchanged.

No. We need to complete the required information and arrangements, and confirm cover and its start date before you rely on it.

Let’s talk about your cover.

Choose a callback or share your quote details. We’ll explain the available cover, costs and conditions so you can decide.

An enquiry does not put cover in place. Your policy documents and confirmed start date set out the insurance arranged.
