Windscreen benefits, excesses and repair arrangements vary by insurer.
This is a general comparison, not a policy summary. Availability and benefits depend on the insurer. The policy wording and certificate set out the actual cover and permitted use.
Not sure which level to choose?
We’ll explain the available cover and excesses before you decide.
02 / YOUR POLICY DETAILS
The details.
The difference.
Explore the points to discuss when arranging import car insurance.
EXPLORE YOUR POLICY DETAILS
01
DETAIL
Where the vehicle comes from
Provide the country of origin, make, model and variant. Tell us if the vehicle cannot be identified accurately from its registration alone.
02
DETAIL
The actual specification
Declare steering position, engine size, power, modifications and security. Supply documents or photographs if requested.
03
DETAIL
Purchase and replacement value
Explain purchase price, current value and unusual parts or upgrades. The insurer needs to confirm the basis of settlement.
04
DETAIL
Where you plan to drive
Tell us about personal, commuting and business use and any overseas travel. Specialist or track use needs separate consideration.
These examples help us understand your needs. Available cover, terms and acceptance depend on the insurer.
03 / OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Extra protection.
A clearer picture.
Explore optional benefits and related policies. Some may already be included; others need separate cover. We’ll explain what is available for your circumstances.
01 / 06
Repair Arrangements
Discuss repairer choice, replacement parts and authorisation before choosing the policy. Specialist repair needs should be raised at quotation stage.
What we’ll help you check
- Can a preferred repairer be used?
- Which parts and labour terms apply?
- What needs authorisation before repairs begin?
02 / 06
Agreed Value
Ask whether the insurer can agree a vehicle value in advance and what evidence is needed. An estimate entered on a proposal is not itself an agreed-value settlement.
What we’ll help you check
- What evidence or valuation is needed?
- When must the value be reviewed?
- How do excesses and policy terms affect settlement?
03 / 06
Motor Breakdown
Explore roadside assistance and recovery for the vehicle use you declare. Home assistance, onward travel and vehicle restrictions depend on the product.
What we’ll help you check
- Does it accept this vehicle and its use?
- What weight, size or age limits apply?
- Which recovery and home services are included?
04 / 06
Motor Legal Cover
Help with eligible legal costs when pursuing uninsured losses following a non-fault accident. Conditions apply to the prospects of success and authorisation of costs.
What we’ll help you check
- Which losses can be pursued?
- What must happen before costs are authorised?
- How is a claim reported?
05 / 06
Key Protection
Ask about help with eligible lost, stolen or damaged keys and locks. Check whether protection is already included before adding a separate product.
What we’ll help you check
- Which keys are covered?
- What claim limits and excesses apply?
- How is a replacement arranged?
06 / 06
European Driving
Tell us the countries, duration and purpose of any overseas journeys. Territorial limits and the level of cover abroad need checking.
What we’ll help you check
- Which countries and trips are accepted?
- What period and cover level apply?
- Is overseas breakdown arranged separately?
Choose an option to explore. Availability, limits and exclusions vary. Related policies may be arranged separately; we’ll provide the relevant terms before you decide.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Your questions
answered.
Answers to common questions about import car insurance, drivers and arranging cover.
Understanding the cover
Can you consider left-hand-drive cars?
Tell us the model and specification. Availability depends on the insurer, vehicle and drivers; left-hand drive should be declared.
What if the registration search shows the wrong model?
Do not proceed on incorrect details. Provide the exact specification and supporting documents so the vehicle can be referred correctly.
Are modifications treated differently on imports?
All modifications need declaring regardless of origin. Factory variants and later changes should be distinguished where possible.
Can I insure a car before UK registration?
Contact us with its status, location and chassis details. Do not assume pre-registration or collection cover is available.
Vehicles, drivers and use
Are overseas-sourced parts covered?
Repair arrangements, parts availability and settlement terms depend on the policy. Raise any concerns before selecting cover.
Does insurance confirm the car is legal to drive?
No. You remain responsible for the applicable registration, licensing and roadworthiness requirements.
Getting a quote
How do I request a quote?
Choose a quick callback or share your quote details using the enquiry form. You can also call 020 8374 9331. We’ll review your information and discuss the available options.
Does the enquiry form put cover in place?
No. It asks our team to contact you. Cover must be arranged and confirmed, with the required details and payment arrangements completed, before you rely on it.
Can I ask about monthly payments?
Yes. Ask us about available payment arrangements and the total cost. Instalments on an annual policy are not the same as a monthly insurance policy. Finance is subject to eligibility and terms.
Managing your policy
Can I change the policy later?
Contact us before changing vehicles, drivers or vehicle use. Insurer acceptance, additional premiums and fees may apply. Check the change is confirmed before relying on cover.
What happens if I want to cancel?
Please contact us and confirm your request in writing. Any refund, fees and outstanding finance depend on the policy terms, time on cover and claims position.
When can I speak to the team?
Call 020 8374 9331, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are based at 133 Tottenham Lane, Crouch End, London, N8 9BJ.
